On the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day and the awarding of the International Press Cartoon Prize “Kofi Annan Courage in Cartooning Award” 2022 to the cartoonists Vladimir Kazanevsky (Ukraine) and Gabor Papaï (Hungary), the traditional open-air cartoon exhibition took place on the Quai Wilson, on the shores of Lake Leman, in Geneva, from 3 to 31 May 2022.
This exhibition was an opportunity to reveal the 2022 winners and their work but also to discover or rediscover the pencil stroke of cartoonists from all over the world. The 2022 edition, rich in 60 press cartoons gathered by the Swiss foundation Freedom Cartoonists in partnership with the Cartooning for Peace network (Paris) and Cartoonists Rights Network International (USA), and chosen by the curator Patrick Chappatte, has declined three themes of current events: “the war in Europe”, “a life of COVID” and “the climate, it’s hot!
